Our reflections

These are our reflections with regards to the Sarawak learning journey.

4th day

First stop for the day - Stutong Market!

We are listening attentively to our guide, Henry.

We had fun interacting with the friendly stall owners at the market.

We ate our lunch at the Annah Rais longhouse.

We had a chance to wear the Bidayuh traditional costume!

We also participated in the traditional dance, the use of a blowpipe and weaving using leaves.

After arriving at Kuching Airport and seeing that we are eating our dinner, Henry bade us farewell and wished us a safe journey back to Singapore. Thank you Henry for all your care and help!

After dinner, we prepared to depart from Kuching Airport.

Home sweet home!

3rd Day :D

We had our breakfast and we proceeded to SK Pajar Sejingkat for our games and activities. For the first game, the game "Splat" will be played and we are going to introduce the game to our friends.

Our demonstration of how the game is played.

Then, we proceeded to play together as a big group with our friends from SK Pajar Sejingkat.

The game was led by our "Splat" master, who is none other  than Haziq!

After the first game, we played "Bingo" and we got to know our new friends better. The boxes included questions about their hobbies, birthdays and so on.

For the third and last game, we had a PE-related game. We applauded the winners and those who did not give up and persevered till the very end!

Then, we had the closing ceremony where we exchanged gifts with our friends and the teachers exchanged the gifts given by the schools as well.

We took photographs with our friends :)

After lunch, we bid our friends farewell as we set off to Semenggoh Wildlife Centre. It was truly touching to see how enthusiastic they were to send us off. They even went all the way to the bus and waved goodbye!

While walking in the Semenggoh Wildlife Centre, we were wondering if we could see Orang Utans this time?

Yay! There it is!

Then, we went to the Information Centre where they showed a video on preserving nature and the habitats of the Orang Utans. It was very informational and interesting,

Suddenly, the guide asked us to leave the room because the Orang Utans are out! Ritchie, the Alpha Male, is out! Henry, our local guide, told us that we were very lucky this time as we saw not one, but seven Orang Utans! Also, the best part is that we managed to see the Alpha Male and it takes Ritchie two to three months to make one round back to the feeding area as it has to check on its territories.

We went for shopping at Sin Piao shopping centre and then ate our dinner.

We went back to the hotel for a debriefing session where we reflected on what we learned today.

It was a very interesting day as we got to interact with our friends from SK Pajar Sejingkat and see seven Orang Utans! It was a great experience and we hope to learn more about the Sarawak culture tomorrow.
